Job Description

The purpose of this position is to contribute to the achievement of Electra’s vision of enhancing the region’s development through the provision of modern, future ready infrastructure in the form of a safe, efficient and effective electricity system.

The Network Graduate Engineer provides engineering support to Engineers and Project Managers, and undertakes minor analysis and engineering projects independently. 

This position exists to:

  • Provide the Graduate Engineer with a broad depth of experience in the safe and reliable operation of an electricity distribution business over a two-year period

The position is multi-disciplined involving many facets of engineering activities that are aimed at giving the Graduate Engineer a solid grounding in power distribution engineering principles and the operation of an electricity distribution network. The Graduate Engineer position will undertake regular secondments into other areas of the business, or to external service providers, over the duration of employment to gain this solid grounding. 

At the completion of the two-year graduate programme the Graduate Engineer will be offered a permanent role.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Electrical Engineering Diploma or Degree, or studying towards.
  • Computer and technology literate, competent user of Microsoft Office
  • A development and inquisitive mindset
  • Organised and resilient with an ability to plan and prioritise multiple tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Desirable

  • Course specialisation in power systems engineering
  • Experience with drawing software such as AutoCAD or similar
  • Experience with load flow analysis or software such as SINCAL, DigSILENT or ETAP or similar.
  • Interest and experience in data analytics and systems.
