Job Description
Electra Ara Ki Te Mahi Future Engineer's Scholarship
Purpose
This scholarship supports undergraduates seeking a career in the Electrical Industry, promoting study in Electrical Engineering programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
Year 13 Students from the Electra service area (Paekākāriki to Foxton),
Planning to enrol in an electrical engineering programme for 2026.
Application Process
The application process asks for applicant details, proof of study plans, NCEA results, and a short 500 words or less, note about why the applicant should receive the scholarship.
Selection Criteria
In making recommendations, the selection committee considers the following:
Demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, electrical and electronic engineering and electric power engineering, indicating the potential to contribute to the electric power engineering industry in Electra and Aotearoa New Zealand
Quality of achievement at NCEA Level 2, or in equivalent qualifications for admission to higher learning.
General character, leadership potential, communication and social skills.

The selection committee may choose to interview applicants to assess the criteria above.
Scholarship Value and Payment Schedule
The scholarship provides financial assistance at a value of $5,000.
The scholarship is paid by direct credit to the recipient’s nominated New Zealand bank account once enrolment is confirmed and after the final withdrawal date in the first semester (the date on which a student may still receive a full refund for withdrawal).
Conditions
The scholarship must be taken up in Semester 1 of 2026.
By accepting the scholarship, recipients indicate that they are willing to engage from time to time in Electra marketing activities, and their details may be used by Electra for its purposes.
The recipient agrees to have a six-monthly check in on how their studies are progressing.
