Job Description

As part of our journey to deliver customer works more consistently with wider industry practice, we are creating two new Customer Projects Engineer roles. These roles will act as ambassadors throughout the customer project lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to delivery, ensuring safe, effective, and customer-focused outcomes across our electricity network.

One role will focus on major projects (large-scale developments such as solar farms, large commercial connections or significant property developments), requiring strong commercial and project management expertise. The other will focus on smaller-scale, high-volume projects (residential developments, relocations, and smaller commercial works). This role potentially provides an opportunity for someone with electrical trade experience to step into project engineering and grow their career.

What you’ll do

  • Provide exceptional service to customers, supporting them through the connection and or asset relocation process.
  • Translate customer needs into technical requirements and coordinate with internal and external teams to deliver safe, efficient solutions.
  • Lead commercial discussions, prepare statements of works, and oversee connection agreements.
  • Provide end-to-end project oversight, ensuring delivery meets agreed technical, commercial, and service level requirements.
  • Champion customer requirements and ensure regulatory and service obligations are met.
  • Prepare and present regular project reporting, and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
  • Promote health, safety, and wellbeing across all aspects of project delivery.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring

Customer Projects Engineer (Major Projects):

  • Electrical Diploma, Degree or significant industry experience.
  • 3+ years’ project management experience in electrical distribution or supply industry.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and negotiate commercial contracts.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders.

Customer Projects Engineer (Small Projects):

  • Electrical Graduate, Diploma, Certificate, or trade qualification.
  • Potentially a candidate with practical experience “on the tools” with a desire to move into project engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with customers (many of whom are electricians).
  • Organisational skills and willingness to learn project management processes.
