Job Description
As part of our refreshed service delivery model, Electra has introduced dedicated Network and Customer Project Management roles to strengthen how we deliver both network‑initiated and customer‑initiated works. We are now seeking a Project Manager – Network, to lead the delivery of our network works programme, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality outcomes across our electricity network.
This role will manage a diverse portfolio of network projects including distribution reconductoring, switch replacements, and asset renewal programmes. You will work closely with engineering, field services, contractors, and external stakeholders such as councils and service providers. This is a hands‑on delivery role within a newly shaped, highly collaborative team, offering the opportunity to influence how Electra delivers its network programme going forward.
What you will do
Manage the planning, scoping, costing, and delivery of network capital and maintenance projects.
Coordinate with engineering, field services, and programme teams to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient outcomes.
Build strong working relationships with field supervisors, line mechanics, cable jointers, and contractors.
Engage with external stakeholders including councils, consultants, and subcontractors.
Conduct site audits, project scoping, and field engagement across the Electra region.
Provide end‑to‑end project oversight, ensuring delivery meets agreed technical, financial, and service level requirements.
Prepare business cases, project documentation, and regular reporting.
Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes and delivery consistency.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you will bring
Significant project management experience in the electricity distribution industry or utilities sector.
Strong understanding of distribution construction, field operations, and contractor management.
Proven ability to deliver infrastructure projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills across technical and operational teams.
Experience working with subcontractors, consultants, and external agencies.
Ability to work independently on project documentation and business cases while collaborating closely day‑to‑day.
Valid work rights for New Zealand.
Desirable:
Experience in utilities, roading, fibre, rail, or civil construction project delivery.
Contract management experience.
Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, or similar).
Background as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, construction manager, or similar role in the utilities sector.
