Are you a project manager who likes being close to the work? Scoping, pricing, delivering and closing out real projects, not just managing paperwork?

Electra is strengthening how we deliver customer‑initiated works across our electricity network and is looking for a Project Manager – Customer to take ownership of projects that directly impact customers, revenue and network performance.

This is a hands‑on delivery role for someone from utilities or infrastructure who enjoys working with field teams, contractors and customers.

Job Description

The opportunity

You will manage a portfolio of customer projects,  from scoping and pricing through to delivery, close‑out and ensuring revenue requirements are captured.

You will work closely with customers, engineering, field operations and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely andcompliantly.

This is not a desk‑only role. You willbe on site, problem‑solving with field crews and keeping projects on track.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver customer‑initiated projects end to end
  • Scope work, prepare estimates and manage pricing
  • Coordinate field teams, contractors and stakeholders
  • Manage variations, close‑out and invoicing
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within scope
  • Communicate with the customer at every turn, ensuring their confidence in the project is maintained

Desired Skills and Experience

Who we are looking for:

This role suits experienced Project Managers or people stepping into project management from the field.

You might be:

  • A Project Manager from electricity, utilities, civil, roading or fibre, or
  • A senior field professional (Line Mechanic, Cable Jointer, Supervisor, Electrician or similar) ready to move into a PM role

You will bring:

  • Experience working in operational, safety‑critical environments
  • Strong understanding of construction and contractor management
  • Confidence communicating with field crews and customers
  • A practical, organised and problem-solving approach to delivery
  • Full New Zealand work rights and a Class 1 driver’s licence
